I love my Boardmaker! It's available for WIN and MAC, it allows me to create all kinds of materials very easily, and the symbols in version 5 are really nice -- better, I think, than Overboard. Also, there are so many great games and materials that you can get as Boardmaker add-ons. Now there's a Boardmaker Plus program that allows you to make creative on-screen, talking activities. I would look through the Mayer-Johnson catalog to see what you'd be missing if you went with a different symbol system.
