I agree with the person that said don't expect long periods of attendance at this age. Give the child choices and be flexible. Be patient. Work on oral motor exercises for the low tone and breath control. Use sign. PECS is great. A picture schedule of tasks you want to do is very helpful...you can either post it up or let the child choose the activity. Speak loudly and clearly to the child too, because frequently children with Down syndrome have fluid in the ear or ear infection issues (even if they have tubes).
