
Posted by speechtxisfun Echolalia IS meaningful communication, not just useless parroting like we were taught back in college. you need to really analyze the echolalia and see what it's function is, i.e. to make a request, to indicate yes, etc. Anyway looking at it differently leads to a different kind of therapy approach. I strongly recommend you read up on Barry Prizant. My take on echolalia is very different now that I have attended his conference, (the SCERTS conference). It was the best conference I have been to in my 15 year career.
