I need ideas on increasing independent-on task work with my autistic students. I have elementary autistic students and it is a continuous struggle to keep one busy or on task while working one on one with another. I have started using task analysis and checklists. The student checks off each individual step such as writing a word and then checking the word off on the list before going on to the next. I am using it in other tasks also. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
