Try having everyone sit in a circle, and work on greetings. You say hello, or good morning, or what's up + their name. They have to say hello (or whatever you said) + your name back. You can ask them one at a time where they live, they have to answer back. Ask them their phone #, they need to answer back. These are all things that my nonverbal students have programmed into their devices, and it's info that they need to be able to access. Also, "what did you have for breakfast?" What is your fave dessert? etc.
