Hi, I am a new speech pathologist in a school district and am working with two kids (ages 16) with CP. One of them is verbal (repeats words/phrases) and the other one does not talk. Instead he screams, slaps at the teachers and desks, and is inconsistent with his abilities. I have tried to get him to point to a Yes or No symbol, but I don't know if he understands symbols or words. He does not have an AAC device. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do with him or as a group with the other boy?
