They do understand picture symbols - One boy is working towards putting 2 symbols together such as "I want _____." The other boy has attending difficulties, and symbols do not really work for him, although he does understand some. He responds well to music, and "reading" along with books with repeated phrases. I do feel like I have more ideas as I get to know them a little better! Thanks.
