I am a new grad working in a special needs preschool with several children who are nv and have PECS goals. I don't even know where to begin! Most of the goals are to request desired object or to "give" object when requested. I am trying to make my own PECS book.. I have found what toys each child enjoy's and have taken digital picture of each toy and plan to laminate and velcro etc...but I am unsure of what process I should follow. Do I start by putting one picture on there book, they hand it to me and then play with the toy? How long should I let them play with the toy? Do I take the toy away and then make them give me the picture again? When should I put up another picture? Is this ALL I should do in therapy.. does anyone have other suggestions? How can I reach these kids!!!
