Posted by Colleen Since we all know that special education laws are rarely followed, and there are little consequences or accountablity, we need to fight the battles every way we can, and have a little humor too! That's why I started drawing to express about our battles for acheiving inclusion and FAPE. I created a means to get our message out by having my cartoons and designs available on products such as t shirts, mugs, mouse pads, buttons and more. Parents, advocates, self-advocates and even professionals are raving about this stuff! Thanks for your interest in promoting inclusion and for patronizing this mom's on-line store and the mission to change the world! Take care and have a happy, safe and successful IEP season!

About "The Parent Side"
A campaign for inclusion and against exclusion!
http://www.theparentside.com
Please forward this to anyone that may be interested in promoting inclusion of people with disabilities.
"The Parent Side" designs are created a mom who is also an advocate and full-time volunteer for the past 15 years working for (1) system change (2) inclusive education for all children and (3) inclusive communities. I created designs to provide an avenue for bringing attention to issues people with disabilities face, to promote acceptance and understanding, and just to make a clear positive impact on promoting inclusion.
I also send out a free monthly email newsletter through Kids Together, Inc, with information on assistive technology, inclusion, and current issues that affect people with disabilities. Typically 5 or 6 items with brief summaries and details to gain further information, such as contacts or website links. At times 1 or 2 items are specific to Pennsylvania, but there are always generic and global information and resources. Additionally, readers are encouraged to share their knowledge and favorite disability website, technology or other information and strategies to support people with disabilities in all aspects of their communities. Subscribing and unsubscribing to the newsletter are easy and automated. Just visit http://www.freelists.org/webpage/ktnewsletter type in your email address and hit go! (You can only subscribe or unsubscribe with the email address that you are signed
