kmaroney, I also have a student that age who subs. /g/ for "j". His name is "Jake" and it comes out as "gate" (has some residual k/g issues too). I'm trying minimal pairs with him, although g/j minimal pairs are hard to come by, but it seems to be working. I would also welcome any additional ideas for that sound!
