One thing I really like to do for categories is to get a bunch of objects/toys and have them sort them. You could have toy food, cars, people, furniture from a dollhouse, etc. You can do a lot of pretend play while you sort too, and model the MLU length they should be using depending on their age. Especially if it is a very young child, model the concepts/MLU/etc. you want them to use and give them time to imitate or respond. Don't ask too many questions that they could just answer yes or no to. Speak at a slower rate, overemphasizing the sounds you are targeting. Hope that helps!
