I'm working with a first grade student who produces only the sounds s/z with extreme hypernasality. All of the other sounds are fine. When I have him plug his nose and make the sound, absolutely NOTHING comes out. He is unable to make the sounds in isolation. He struggles with this so much -- I'm just curious as to what else might be going on. Does anyone have ideas/suggestions of things to try with him in therapy?
