I work with many middle schoolers, some regular ed, some special ed, all but two of them are boys. My regular ed kids love any kind of trivia game, which is great because it works for language, cognitive, and artic carryover. Their faves are: 20 questions, Trivial Pursuit, esp. the special editions and the one just for kids, Scattergories for kids...My new favorites are games I just purchased from Linguisystems--they are Language Burst and Word Burst--they are awesome and keep their attention very well!!]
Also, as a reward, I let the kids play on the computer and they LOVE that! Any site that has games related to speech/language is something that appeals to them and also meets the 21st century learning objectives that my state requires.
I also have some purchased games that the children love from Linguisystems I believe.
