Three months ago I began working with a 4 year old boy who inconsistently prolongs vowels and often inserts a schwa (bone --> boune). He also speaks slowly, is low tone, has poor coordination of respiration and phonation, and is disfluent on 4.5% of syllables (no secondary behaviors). He most often prolongs the last word of a sentence.. which makes me think he isn't doing it as a way to control his fluency.
Has anyone ever worked with a child like this? How would you treat it?
