With younger students, I use the Brennan Bear vocabulary, It has two sets of vocabulary words per month. These are based on seasonal vocabulary words. It also has comprehension worksheets to review words and follow oral instructions. It involves stories and cartoons of a character called Brennan Bear and his animal friends. This works well for Kindergarten and 1st grade. Weekly Readers have good vocabulary that is academically based. After Third grade I use reading vocabulary or science vocabulary from the text books.
