Dr. Lucker recommends using a combination of assessments including the SCAN and CTOPP as well as CELF and the TAPs. He has an interesting book out and a website as well. He feels there is a lot involved in the processing of information, there is a cognitive piece as well as auditory piece. If you google his name along with APD, you'll get some information.
