Hi Sue,
I can understand your uncertainty with this and think it's really great that you've put yourself out there asking for help. Now I've only been practicing for 4 years, but here are a few tips regarding this little guy:
1) work on only one sound at a time (in only one position too!)
2) start with auditory discrimination tasks before moving on to production tasks(i.e. you misarticulating the target sound and see if he notices)
3) begin with early acquired sounds - I tend to start the earliest acquired sound that the child doesn't have and go from there. These also tend to be sounds that are closest to the front of the mouth and the child can get visual feedback using a mirror (so w, p, and b are all good starting points). Stopped consonants also tend to be a bit easier than fricatives (less coordination needed), however every child is different, so some trial and error may be required!
