I have used Cycles with kids with Apraxia and have never seen gains like the ones posted above. Is it possible the child was profoundly phonologically impaired and not apraxic?
Cycles is good for Apraxia because it focuses at the word level and you do target many sounds. However, it is only one word and most kid with apraxia will need help with coarticulating sounds as well in longer utterances and in mutlisyllablic words. Hodson says Cycles works for apraxic kids, so it's definitely worth a shot, but you need to be ready to change up if it doesn't work.
The key is to make sure what you're dealing with is really Apraxia. It's a rare disorder while phonological delays are extremely common. Just because a child is unintelligible doesn't mean they are apraxic, even if they have vowel errors or inconsistent errors. There is a lot of research out there showing that most kids labeled apraxic were really phonological. One study had 22 kids and only 4 were truly apraxic. I am not saying the child you're working with isn't, but apraxia experts I have spoken with all told me the same thing--look for the common disorder first.
