There is a website and material called story grammar marker. It's all about story telling. There are some lesson plans on the website. In the county that I work in this material was purchased for us and we received three days of training. The developmental sequence for story telling starts with the character, setting and actions. The inventor of this approach teaches the kids about character by telling them that the character has eyes, face and head. She recommends teaching about setting by explaining that the setting tells where the characters are. You could guide your son in his drawing by assisting him in having a character, setting and actions to his drawing. Then you could model for him how to tell the story. Hope this helps
