I just began working with a 5.5 yr old boy who demonstrates alot of repetitions of the words "but" and "then" during oral narratives. I do not feel that it is indicative of a true stutter but rather difficulty organizing his thoughts prior to verbalizing. Sometimes he will begin a narrative and then half way through repeat "but" 5-7 times until he is able to execute the next complete thought. What is the best way to address this?
