Wow.... I sparked something with that question! I haven't had a chance to read the responses to this post but I am going to say my piece now. I do agree that we are expected to do a lot and communication should be one of our main priorities, however, I live in a very small province in Canada and we don't have reading specialists, etc. Reading comp. involves language and we are speech LANGUAGE pathologists! This client was a private client in 4th grade with VERY minimal public service and her parents were at a point where they were desperate AND the school suggested that private SLP services was the way to go (which I don't agree with and think that our public services are not what they should be).
