You make valid points. I think the the conversations evolved because the venting was perceieved as "complaining" about the changes in the roles for slps in the schools. Just from reading them, I can tell that people do not feel that they have to target certain aspects of language within the schools, when in fact ASHA notes it as part of our roles/responsibilities. I can also see there is tension amongst the new slps and the old slps.I think its fine to vent (and everyone needs to at times) but if slps are going to vent then perhaps they can end it by asking for advice and not necessarily "complaining" about the increases in roles/responsibilities. I think its also important for the older slps to be sensitive towards the changes in laws and areas of need. Things are changing and I dont even consider myself an articulation correctionlist in the schools anymore, Ive gotten over that aspect a long long time ago. I really do beleive our role is to support our students iep goals whether language, auditory processing, etc.
