I am evaluating a 4th grade girl who is having a great deal of difficulty with academics. I am part of a full team evaluation and everyone wants me to figure out this girl's 'unusual' communication. She has facial tics, eye brow lifts, eye blinks, corner mouth tic, groping with her mouth, and an intermittent vocal sound which is like an owl hooting. She does not have part word/sound repetitions. It happens during verbalizations as well as when she is not talking. At first I thought it was stuttering with secondary physical components. Then I thought it might be Tourette's. It's not very clear cut... anyone have a suggestion?
