Start with /g/ and teach the child to growl like a tiger - the slide into production of the sound.
I have found with many kids you just need to get in there and push the tongue back. I will try first with a toothette with sweet candy sprayed on it. Pushit back and model the sound. Tongues are so strong though that typically I use a finger cot or flavored gloves to actually push the tongue back. Eventually (usually after several weeks) you can have the client push thier own tongue back, and after a few sessions that should be able to produce the sound in isolation without physically pushing it back.
