I am seeing a child in therapy who sounds exactly like your son. A SLP on this site recommended a book called "frontal lisp, lateral lisp" by Pam Marshalla. I recently ordered it and just started reading it and already I feel that I know so much more about how I am going to approach this deviant lateral lisp. I agree that you should not work on oral motor, you should start the focus (as the book recommends) on teaching the appropriate direction of air flow (teaching them the air comes out the front of the mouth vs. lateral) hope that helps, the book costs about $60 but it's well worth the investment!
