My child had a TBI (4 years post-trauma now) and his evaluations have always involved standardized data and looking at him in relation to norms. He doesn't have speech and language issues any more, but he still gets evals by the school psych. periodically. I think it's important for the parent and for teachers and other professionals to see how he's doing in relation to typical peers, and of course to help with writing goals. It's also very nice to be able to see the growth from one year to the next, and with a TBI there WILL be growth as spontaneous recovery happens. Of course, give your informal impressions of strengths and weaknesses too. It's all good to know. Good luck.
