how this loss will effect future classes. Luckily there are good players (at least on paper) arriving in the Fall. Now to evaluate Spring Roster.
Predicted Starters:
1: Chandler Hawkins - Chandler shows signs that he may be force. He is a great tackler and always seemed to be around the ball. He will be the top DB is he can step it up 1 or 2 notches.
2: Andre Chachere: This kid also showed signs of future stardom. Andre knows how to tackle, and he also was always around the ball. He'll be a player if he steps it up.
Also, if Andre and Chandler can get stronger and add a little muscle weight the Spartans will be set at the CB position.
Back-ups:
It gets a little hard because of lack of experience.
3: Dominic Barns: Only because he saw action last year, and was involved on special teams. Dominic does has the tools, but not sure if he can take it to the D1 at CB. He was a great RB in High School, and as always RC doesn't know personnel. I wish Dominic all the best. I'd say he's a diamond in the rough.
4: Dakari Monroe: This kid may make a splash. He supposedly has the speed (faster than Dominic) so I really believe he has a chance, unless some of the incoming class jumps out. Dakari has to work on this strength. Dominic is 202 lb.
5. Jermaine Kelly: I would have put Jermaine ahead of Dominic and Dakari based on his credentials, but I haven't seen him in action. This kid had the size, if he add a little muscle weight maybe the can be a starter. I give him a chance to break into the starting lineup, but he has to prove himself first.
In the Wings: Tae'on Mason, Trevon Bierra, Dehlon Preston:
Tae'on has all the tools no doubt. This is the D1 level though, many young men in his position soon learn it's NOT high school. His time will come though, soon.
Dehlon, and Trevon are unknowns. Trevon was very successful and played in a real tough region. Dehlon is an unknown, but who knows, they could surprise.
