1. Travis Raceti was somewhat of a disappointment this year. I was expecting him to really tear-it-up! Maybe he wasn't 100% is all I can think of. Caragher's grind'em practices were not what the Spartans need right now. They don't have the luxury of having good players sitting on the sideline. Anyway, I hope next year Travis returns at 100% and he has fire in his belly to make up for not making it to a bowl game this year. As far as the DL is concerned, I think it will be better with some strengthening and conditioning. the players to watch: Tony Popovich (coming back from injury), Adrian Blake (will want to be part of the starting lineup), Chris Gonzalez and Keenan Sykes (both have some size). Some sleepers: Fernando Villaneuva, Nico Aimonetti, Travis Miller (they have the size and weight to clog up the middle).
2. We're pretty much set at LB. With Christian Tago, and Vince Bughagier coming back. Moses Saucedo wasn't bad, he can hold his own. I expect Jared Leaf to contribute, he can be better than Keith Smith based on his HS film (just saying). Sean Beacon, and Eugene Taylor have to come back heavier and stronger. They should signs of greatness at times and looked pathetic at others. I'm thinking they will be much improved.
3. Only the DB and S are the question mark. There is some talent, but they have to learn to tackle and stop throwing themselves and tackling air. They have to breakdown and take runners on. In some ways I blame Kenwick Thompson. He has them too far back. His style seems to e play soft and keep the game in front of you. The one big improvement I see for the defense if to boot Thompson and get a legit DC. Kenwick just isn't cutting it.
Anyway, I'll take look at the offense in an other post.
