I think it's a matter of priorities. First comes winning. So the current project is meant to attract better recruits, and it's more doable than a major stadium upgrade. If they can get this project done, it will encourage more investment in the future. Possibly by the city, or some businesses. That's not a given, but you have to take the first step. The burden right now is with the team. If they can make it a second bowl game then the pieces will begin to fall in place: better players, more attendance, greater success, more interest, more money. Already the first piece is beginning to develop. Caragher has a group of 14 early commits, 6 are 3-star athletes. He's concentrating on the DBs because SJSU needs size, speed, sure tacklers and cover men. This year's recruits were deep on the DL. Look at the roster. The DL is beginning to develop. They are young, have some size and can conceivably grow and get stronger. Next year the DL will be stronger. Given all that. I still think SJSU can compete this year. If the team can beat a tough Minnesota team, I think that will spark some team chemistry. They are still adjusting to new coaches and new schemes. That can't be overlooked. The expectations both internally and externally were "sky high." It's no wonder the team is a little tight. I don't agree that giving up the Stanford game is a good thing, but if they can schedule teams of the same caliber then by all means. If they can make money, then go for it. All I care is that the team keeps getting better and win games. GO SPARTANS!
