Okay, I got my second wind, so I thought I would share some other observations of Spring Practice.
Jurovich looks really sharp, and is very apparently fully recovered. I am telling you folks that the thought of Marquis Avery, Juro, Jalal, Avila, etc. at WR is almost scary. It brings back memories of earlier times. I have not seen a WR as good as Avery since Guy Liggins that I can recall. I loved David Richmond as a player and as a person, but I believe Avery will make many forget about David. He looks that good. I know I may have concerned some with my description of his intensity at practice, but of all the years I coached, give me a player with that kind of fire. I will work on containing that enthusiasm, but you cannot build that kind of desire into a player that does not have it. He simply is trying to make the players around him become the best that they can be.
The running plays were pretty much NOrth-South routes, which might be a good idea. We will run a lot of power leads, I believe, especially if Rodriguez is playing fullback.
One other note. Keith Burns is one of the two best position coaches I have ever seen in my life at any level, and I have attended thousands of high school and college practices. We are lucky to have him. Every unit he has been assigned to coach since he has been here has performed magnificently. His rapport with his players is off the chart, and his enthusiasm is infectious. I have stood with a few feet of him many times and listened to him coach his players, and it is amazing to witness. I wish that I could have studied under that man when I first started coaching. He is simply amazing in my view.
Goodnight.
