Several former NFL star players and coaches are among the dozen people slated for induction into the California Community College Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame today at the Visalia Elks Club.
Included in the group is Bill Ring (College of San Mateo), who has two Super Bowl rings (1982 and 1985) from his tenure with the San Francisco 49ers (1981-86), where he also was given the team's top honor in 1983, the Len Eshmont Award.
At CSM he was the school's No. 2 career rusher with 1,514 yards in two years and team MVP in 1976. At BYU, he led the team in touchdowns in 1978, was team captain and Academic All-WAC, and MVP of the Silk Bowl in Japan in 1977. He is one of seven former CSM players or coaches who collectively have 16 Super Bowl rings. He currently serves on the board of directors of four charities, including the athletic foundation for his former high school, Carlmont-Belmont.
