Today in the WAC
The schedule reads thusly:
Eastern Michigan at LaTech
Hartford at NMSU
Mississippi State at Hawaii
Sacramento State at St. Mary’s
Washington at Nevada
SJSU at Pacific
Fresno not scheduled
MS State has already beaten Hawaii in the first game of the series and figures to give Hawaii a tough time in the four game series. As far as I can tell this is MS State’s sternest test to date.
Eastern Michigan is 3-6 at this point but have a good win against Indiana. I figure an even battle with LaTech with Tech taking the series.
Hartford has not played a game this year so I think NMSU will sweep this series.
St. Mary’s is rated by many polls and have some impressive wins such as two from Stanford, one from Nebraska, and two of three from Oregon. Sacramento State is in for a tough time.
Washington is 4-5 but has played a fairly tough schedule such as opening the season at Fresno and dropping two of three to the national champions (yuck, ptui, hard to say). Even game and series.
Pacific, hmm, Pacific. 3-4 but have played a demanding schedule. Baylor (ranked), K State, San Diego (ranked), and San Diego State (ranked). They’ve held their own in these games so I think SJS is in for an awakening in their first real test of the year against a pretty good team, on the road, in a three game series. Don’t be shocked if the boys in blue drop one or two. A sweep by the Spartans would put them on the map. Gay-ron-teed!
