The other day I heard that many teams in the NBA were experiencing serious financial difficulties. This seems amazing to me when you hear about so stories of excess at least by individuals with Sprewell leading the way. I didn't believe it so I did a little checking and here's what I found. I know this has nothing to do with the Spartans but the NBA (I thought) is well-managed by Stern and the locals (Warriors) are at least doing well in attendance and money issues, but if teams start going out of business (it is possible) then how will this ultimately affect college basketball? I certainly don't know but it is disturbing. I found this partial post on another bulletin board:
According to a variety of sources, the following teams are experiencing serious drops on attendance: Washington, Los Angeles (Clippers), Sacramento, Philadelphia, Charlotte.
The following teams are suffering severe operating losses: Denver, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Indiana, Minnesota.
And the following teams have owners with financial problems: Phoenix, New Jersey, Sacramento, Memphis, Charlotte.
