I would rather Driver take a year off and get stronger on his acl as well but only the coaches and the player and his family can really make that decision based on the medical evidence. I’m sure if the doctors give him clearance and he can’t hurt it any worse then an any other player out there, he will be out making plays for us. I’m also sure that Tomey will have a great competition out there this spring and summer and find the best team he can out of the guys he has.
On thing I would like to see is more emphasis on timing and execution on the “O” side of the ball rather then pure toughness. If the toughness is there, it will come out but execution has to be learned and repeated many times over.

: I agree with Rick. That's what JC players
: should do. They come in as juniors (usually)
: so they need to be ready to go, now. Looks
: like our RB situation is in good hands.
: Finally, a strong RB with some speed; not
: exactly a burner but can break away. Muldrow
: at HB, so good there. Jones, Richmond, and
: now Avery. I'm not much for watching film of
: a kid when he was 12 or whatever but,
: watching him run away from what appear to be
: midget DBs was pretty impressive. The
: matchups looked unfair. I'm thinking Owens
: as a young receiver with the 49ers before he
: had an attitude transplant. Driver? I don't
: know much about him other than it sure
: sounds good. I'm glad (proud?) that the
: Spartans kept after him after others dropped
: interest when he blew out his knee. How
: serious was it? I see him being more like
: Francies than Owens but either would be
: fine. A very good get. Now, think of the
: last two years and field goal kicking. Not
: good memories right? I think the kid from
: Sunnyvale could be the guy from day one for
: the next four years. Other newcomers are
: pretty young so I still see them coming in
: only on certain downs and situations rather
: than starting. Orth (sp?) intrigues me.
: Small school dominator so he has a lot to
: prove but I love possession receivers.
:
: Don't overlook Avelino Valencia. Isn't he a
: JC transfer who is a preferred walk-on? He
: may be able to help out right away at tight
: end. I'd rather Driver take the time to
: ensure his knee is completely sound before
: stepping into the backfield. We may be a
: little weaker in that area next year as
: opposed to last, but I don't want any player
: to jeopardize their future by coming back
: from an injury too soon.
:
: Next season is looking more and more like it
: will come down to a measure of how much the
: offense, especially the line, improves. We
: just need to be able to move the ball and
: pick up some first downs, and we'll be okay.
