Here's what I THINK is happening:
Because we are a state university, hiring of an assistant coach must follow state hiring guidelines -- just as if the school were hiring a secretary in one of the academic departments. That includes mandatory timelines for posting the job announcement, etc. The timeline probably started about the time Arroyo dated his letter of resignation.
Even if Tomey has picked a replacement (most of us are guessing its Terry Malley) the job cannot be officially announced until the state time requirements are met.
This based on my past dealings with state agencies when I knew they had replacements picked but had to wait until the calendar clicked off.
