Not sure Moa returns to SJSU
--Previous Message--
: As far as O.lineman, if we have our full
: allotment of 25 scholarships, I'd like to
: have 2 JC lineman who are good enough to
: come in and start, and 2-3 freshman for the
: future. We have many returning O. linemen,
: but they weren't particularly effective;
: they may need some competition. Our best
: lineman is Fred Koloto and he was injured a
: good part of the year. Our next best lineman
: was Eliapo, but he was manhandled by some of
: the people he blocked this year.
:
: We definitely need improvement on the O.
: line, whether by improvement of people we
: have, bringing in new players or a combo of
: both. We do have a lot of returning players
: and I hope they improve; they definitely
: have an opportunity to gain playing time.
:
: Our best O.lineman of 07-08 is on a Mormon
: mission and should return next year 10-11
: with three years eligibility remaining,
: that's Moa Ngatuvai. He went to the same HS
: as Charles Leno, one of our O. line recruits
: who ended up in Boise. I thought he may come
: here with the Moa connection, but it didn't
: quite work out.

: If Tomey picks up any "O" linemen,
: I
: hope it is HS kids that can redshirt next
: season and come in the following year ready
: to compete. If we pick up JC kids, we will
: have to continue to do that each year. This
: position needs to be in the program for 5
: years period. We have enough experienced
: players for this season and next.

: One reason we may not see a lot of O-Line
: recruits is we have three returning Centers,
: between six and eight returning Guards, and
: five or six returning Tackles. I would not
: expect to see any more than three or so
: offensive linemen recruited, unless we have
: a chance to get real talent.

: Good work Dude,
: Donnie Pritchett DE from Santa Rosa JC is
: also a possibility.
:
: We are light on rumored O lineman. I wonder
: if we are just keeping the names close to
: the vest or if we have very few
: possibilities there. I think we must have
: some offensive linemen recruits.

: A few prospect that have committed recently
: to
: other schools include Servite HS CB Bijon
: Samoodi (Cal Poly), Boise HS DL Ricky
: Tjon-A-Tjoe (Boise State), El Capitan HS QB
: Tanner Rust (New Mexico St), Tesoro HS TE
: Evan Finkenberg (Arizona State), Fullerton
: JC CB Conroy Black (Utah).
:
: SJSU is out of the picture for Serra HS
: (Gardena, CA) RB Carl Winston as he has
: narrowed his choice to either Colorado or
: Washingon. Menlo High WR Jerry Rice Jr .
: may walk-on at UCLA. He also has the grades
: that could land him at an Ivy League school.

:
: John Henderson
: DT

: College Of The Sequoias (Visalia, CA)
: Will visit SJSU this weekend.
:
: That makes (16) recruits. Assuming all of
: those listed were to sign next week, there
: would still be probably 2-3 additional
: players not listed that will also sign. My
: guess is that this list is probably missing
: about 5-6 players that will end up signing
: with SJSU on February 4th.
