With the loss of Bellarmine QB Austyn Carta-Samuels to Wyoming, new QB names are emerging to SJSU's list of prospects. It appears that the SJSU staff really wants to sign a second QB to go along with Dasmen Stewert, who is expected to sign with the Spartans next week. The latest name to emerge is Miles Freeman (6-1 / 190) from Luther Burbank HS in Sacramento. While Freeman's passing stats are not that impressive (QB rating of 91.0), his rushing stat's are eye popping for a QB. He has an offer from Army already on the table, so grades should not be an issue.
Freeman is now the fourth SJSU prospect that has been offered by Army. Dasmen Stewert, Bijon Samoodi, and Jason Simpson are the other three. This tells us that Tomey is interested in two things, players with character, and good GPA's.
Freeman, who was named Offensive Player Of the Year for the Metro Conference in 2008, could also play Defensive Back, rather than QB, at the collegiate level.
