Hill and Bell worked with a promoter who came up with and owned the "Literacy Classic" opening game with Grambling that sold out. Bell and Hill tried to take it over the following year, but didn't own the name "Literacy Classic", and didn't want share the profits, so they came up with "Lead2Read" (or something close to it) and scheduled Morgan State. That game lost $500,000...which the University had to pick up. Shortly thereafter Bell and Hill were out.
At least that's what I recall reading.
But I'm happy FitGerald Hill finally found his level of football. He's probably a better motivator than coach.
