I am also not impressed with any of these three. I went and read about their credentials and nothing jumped out and "bit" me with regards to supporting athletics and moving it forward like Don Kassing has done during his tenure.
I also read the information about the search committee and I am not impressed with them either. Was there any input from SF "adults" or San Jose community leaders other than the auto dealer owner, Don Lucas? Who were the professors at SJSU involved?
I just hope we're not making a huge step BACKWARDS.

: On paper, Jon Whitmore seems to be head and
: shoulders above the other two. His
: experience and accomplishments are
: impressive and he seems to understand and
: support the role of athletics. His impact
: in that area has been substantial. He also
: emphasizes increased involvement of
: non-whites (can't use the term minority any
: more in California since we have no
: majority). That fits the university's goals
: very well. In spite of his white hair he
: may not be that old since he has teenage
: children. Questions are begged due to his
: resignation from TT and stated desire to
: return to teaching. Why would he desire the
: classroom at Texas Tech and return to a
: university professorship at San Jose State?
: There is more to this story. Luckily, for
: all the candidates the price of housing in
: the south bay is no longer an issue. The
: Alumni purchased a beautiful home in the
: Rose Garden for our presidents.

: I am not impressed. Two Provost Marshals and
: the Texas Tech. President.
: What a laugh.. The best we could attract are
: two
: provost Marshals from minor universities?
: The Texas Tech. Pres. wanting to come to
: SJSU
: makes me wonder why and since his
: background is all in Arts I would question
: IF HE WILL VIGOROUSLY SUPPORT THE SJSU
: ATHLETIC PROGRAMS AT SJSU. ODDS ARE THAT HE
: WONT. I HOPE I AM WRONG
: FOR IF I'M NOT WE ARE IN DEEP YUCKY PUCKY.
: I am deeply concerned Joe Griego
:
: if these candidates were the best of the lot
: can you imagine the credentials of the othe
: applicants.
