Well, it's maybe a counterintuitive path, but I believe there may be some coaches who decide their niche is to be the best position coach in the game, and have little interest (or perhaps are aware they have limited competencies) in a coordinator or HC position. Better pay and all that, I know, but maybe there's an argument for specializing?
