Head coach Dick Tomey welcomes back 43 letterwinners, 13 of whom started at least six games a year ago, from the 2007 team as the Spartans open spring practice Friday afternoon at 3:00. In addition to the returning letterwinners, 12 non letterwinners, 22 redshirts and a handful of newcomers will take the field in spring ball.
Among the more competitive and closely watched position battles will be at quarterback where five student-athletes will look to earn the starting job. Returners Jordan LaSecla, Myles Eden, Sean Flynn and Chad Bozzo compete along with transfer Kyle Reed for the right to replace Adam Tafralis as the primary signal-caller. Tomey does not expect the position to be solidified until fall.
The Spartans Spring Game is set for Saturday, April 12 at 2:00. Look for more information on the event soon.
