There were between 45-50 people in attendance. There was a video with highlights of each recruit shown, as well as an interview with Coach Tomey. Coach Tomey (and his wife Nancy) arrived at about 7:00 and spoke to the group for about 45 minutes. He stayed until there were no more questions from the group. He answered a lot of questions regarding his recruiting philosophy, the new players, the current players (TE Jeff Clark has been granted a sixth season). He confirmed that Coye Francies will probably play a little offense as well as corner. Francies also has the inside track on being the punt and KO returner, as Tomey believes he going to be one of the best in the WAC. Tomey likes Josh Harrrison and Mike Avila as returners as well. The QB position is completely up for grabs and is going to be won after the season starts. The QB's are going to get hit in the spring drills because Tomey feels that his staff needs to see who can take a hit and who shines under real pressure. If a QB gets hurt, so be it. Chad Bozzo is still in the mix. Spring practice starts March 7th.
Watching the video highlights of the new players, I was really impressed with TE Ryan Otten, WR Marquis Avery, and DE Keenan Brown (three players that I had not seen highlights of before). Avery, David Richmond, and Jalal Beauchman (all 6-4) are going to be like triplets out there. All are build about the same.
One thing I think everyone noticed was the overall speed of this class. Lots of speed, and players that are versatile and can play multile positions.
