Note that Chuck Long has only been at SDSU for a couple of seasons, Tomey in San Jose for three.
Prior to that, both programs were in a situation where there was coaching turnover every three seasons or so, give or take. And whenever a coach leaves a school (for whatever reason), not all of the players recruited by that coach finish through with their education. And the APR gets destroyed.
We saw that bigtime when Tomey took over for His Literateness. Just the institution of the 0600 practices chased about 10-15 players off of the team, and with that any chance of being above 925 for as long as those players' theoretical eligibility lasted.
That situation is (at long last) beginning to subside in San Jose, but it is just coming to its crest in San Diego.
Do not be surprised if, in a couple of seasons, and if DT remains as head coach, that SJSU's APR eclipses that of Fresneck. After all - you can only take Tractor Tipping 101 and Intro to Sheep Buggery for repeatable credit only so many times...
