Actually, I should have titled this post recruiting and the Bush Administration because I'm starting to think they operate on the same principles.
Take David Sims, the Butte JC safety who just 'gave his word' to Oklahoma. Yes, he 'cmmmitted' to Oklahoma whil;e on his trip there, made the announcement but also is still still looking around and pursuing other options.
He plans to still visit West Virginia and possibly a couple of more schools.
So a committment isn't a committment. Or maybe it is. Or maybe it is until a better opportunity surfaces.
Is this a parallel situation? Publicly announcing your engagement to marry someone but still playing the field up until the day of the ceremony? Or making the public announcement but enjoying as many 'batchelor parties' as permissable until the day of reckoning?
Sure these kids are still veritable youngsters but, if I was a coach, I would be wondering if a player who did this but eventually signed a LOI with me will still be casting his eye about for greener pastures.
