Not related to the APR at all. The Fresno State football team is near the top in the APR for teams in the west. I believe Air Force Academy and Stanford are two that are ahead of Fresno. There may be another one or a few, I do not remember. Fresno has increased academics since Hill came to Fresno. Their team GPA increased from around 2.1 to around 2.6 or 2.7. Hill has emphasized academic performance and demands it from players. The Academic Game Plan, developed by an assistant coach is used at Fresno. That plan has been purchased by a number of universities including Notre Dame and AZ, IIRC.

: Thanks for that correction - I'm really
: surprised about that. Do you know why? Was
: the decision somehow connected with the APR
: issue so many teams are struggling with?

: Fresno State has not taken prop 48s in three
: or four years.
:
: There was some talk within the NCAA about
: doing away with props altogether although I
: don't recall if this was done. The BCS teams
: were behind that move to further maintain
: their recruiting advantages.

: According to the LA DAILY NEWS, it may not
: matter that a Fresno State recruit
: decommitted to go to USC instead.
: Ironically, he could have redshirted at FSU
: as a Prop. 48. Who knows, maybe he'll still
: end up there:

: "Defensive end Malik Jackson of
: Birmingham High, who committed to USC, needs
: a sizable improvement on his test scores
: before gaining admittance."
