Tap vs. bottled...

I've been using bottled water for years. It may be such that I just can't drink tap water because I'm so phobic about it (growing up in LA for a considerable part of my childhood is to blame). I just read an article that stated tap water is fine. I'm thinking I might try this and get one of those Brita filters or something. Anyone use these? Happy? No?
