And perhaps someone else might come along and propel our mediocrity, but I think many fans have had enough of that. Having Tomey around gave us some respect. I'll try to stay positive, but it's hard to ignore that the next coach will probably leave the moment he shows signs of improvement with the team. If no one's willing to stick around for the long haul and make a huge impact along the way, we're doomed to either be a Fritz era type team again or we'll lose the program all together and the average fan properly can't tell which is worse. I don't know. It's been freakin' awesome having Tomey around and now we might have to go back to the way things were? That sucks big time. I'd stick around after the fact even if the new coach encounters really bad seasons, but I guarantee you the average fan won't. Remember the 6,000 fan games? And things are a lot different than the late 80's and early 90's. Since then the other programs have grown immensely (facilities, budgets) and we haven't, so in comparison we're much worse off than when Gilbert left.
