I agree with Dude in the fact that we can't block. But I have to say that I was very disapointed in the play calling for the whole game. It reminded me of the Fitz days with sideline passes and nothing thrown up the middle or downfield. Hunsucker has great speed, but not once did we try to run a screen, swing pass, or anything to try to get him some space. Overall, there was no game plan at all on offense and defense. Very little blitzing or schemes on defense and extremely vanilla on offense.
: No mincing words there. Disappointed that I
: have to hear it in the first place, but I
: sure like to hear it. If anyone has an
: issue with Tomey's 6:30 am practices, then
: they just don't get it. He's trying to
: build something, one block at a time. If
: the guy with the trowell keeps placing the
: bricks on end and pi**ing in the mortar then
: there's no foundation worth stepping on.
: Man, this team had better "wake
: up" and start playing with some real
: urgency.

: San Jose State vs. Stanford September 15,
: 2007
: Post-game Quotes
: San Jose State Head Coach Dick Tomey
:
: “Well we were awful, we were badly coached.
: We were a bunch of prima donnas. We just
: don’t compete. We are going to practice at
: 6:30 in the morning. Full gear. Anybody
: not there is cut and any coach who is not
: there is fired. We’ve got a short time to
: put this thing together but right now were
: just the ####. Stanford’s really improved
: their game and that just shows how much
: better their coaches are then we are. How
: much better their players are than we are.
: They’ve done a great job. I commend coach
: Harbaugh and his staff. They kicked our
: ass, physically.” “No this is a lot worse
: [than Arizona State]. Because we had a
: chance to look at some film and try to get
: better. But it was a group effort. It
: started with the head coach.” “It’s not
: about the offense. It’s not about the
: offense or the defense it’s just about
: playing with character, playing with
: toughness, playing with pride. And were not
: doing any of that. We can’t block, we can’t
: tackle, we don’t compete well and we don’t
: coach well. But were not going to let that
: be the status quo. As I said were gonna
: start and 6:30 in the morning and it’s a
: closed practice. I don’t want any of you
: guys there. It’s none of your damn
: business.” “I don’t want to talk about
: half time. I don’t want to talk about any
: particulars of the game. We got our ass
: kicked. We were badly out coached. We were
: badly outplayed; we’re not worth a ####
: right now. And we’re gonna try to do
: something about it. Period.”
