If you gauge progress by execution and competitiveness versus wins, I'de say really no progress was displayed, certainly not in that opener. It's fair to say that the 2002 or 2003 Spartans could have put up equal numbers in both of those games. I think the point here is that while Coach Tomey is a great coach and a goord man he's not the football diety that some people think he is and he definitely isn't infallible and neither are the rest of his coaches. There has been some really odd play-calling the last couple weekends that reminds me a lot of the old days.
