The award is named after the Pro Football Hall of Fame placekicker Lou Groza, who played 21 seasons for the Cleveland Browns. Strubeck, a junior from Camarillo, Calif., was a second-team All-Western Athletic Conference selection in 2006. He was 9-of-12 as a field goal kicker and booted a personal best of 48-yard field goal in the New Mexico State win. He converted 36-of-40 extra-points and had 10 of his kickoffs scored as touchbacks. The 5-foot-8, 176-pound environmental studies major is the first San Jose State player named to the Lou Groza Award watch list in the 16-year history of the award. On November 6, the 20 semifinalists will be named. Three finalists will be announced on November 20. The winner will be honored on December 4 at an awards banquet and presented on the December 6 ESPN Home Depot College Football Award show broadcast from Orlando, Fla. 2007 Lou Groza Collegiate Placekicker Award Preseason Watch List
